Painted

Very often the most fun things that happen are a total surprise. This is how I would describe the experience that followed when a young and talented artist by the name of Kathlyn Jayme contacted me asking permission to paint the following picture from my Fragments gallery:

The photo was one of my favourites from Fragments. The painting that Kathlyn had in mind was for a project she was working on, and also for a competition – where if successful, her art will be hung in a local museum. After getting to know Kathlyn briefly via email, and seeing her very visible passion and enthusiasm for art – I quickly agreed.

A few days later I received a snapshot of Kathlyn’s finished work. Below is the result:

I have to say – seeing her interpretation was extremely enjoyable. The atmosphere has transferred very well to the painting and there is still some of the ambiguity of "despair vs hope" that I intended to convey in the original. I really liked it and was delighted to see something like this happen as a result of our connected world.

I’m sure you’ll agree that Kathlyn has a bright future ahead.
