Memories from El Nido

5 March 2007 5 Comments

Tonight I got back from El Nido, a small island in the Philippines that quite simply can only be described as paradise. An amazing place that we had just 36 hours to explore but  left with fantastic memories and hopefully pictures to match. In the day and a half we were there, I snorkeled, got bitten by a fish, island hopped, hiked to the top of a mountain to sit and watch a sunset with panoramic views, caught a boat under moonlight before sunrise to photographer fishermen bringing in the night’s catch, saw a lunar eclipse (!) and was generally literally left quite breathless with the beauty. I’ll be posting images within the next couple of days. In the meantime, here’s a reminder of what I just left behind – a quick handheld shot from my balcony at 5am this morning (that light is moonlight).

Unfriggen believable. Amazing place. I'm jealous sitting here in several feet of snow in the great white north. ;-\ Can't wait to see the photos.

I'm with Craig (surrounded by snow as well) when it comes to jealous. That photo is exquisite and perfect. I assume that was the 5D. I have to say I'm very uninspired now because of the constant snow and being tied to the area during the winter. Your photos are all at once a breath of fresh air and a reminder that I need to move..lol

I'm looking forward to your photos, too.

That sounds fantastic – I'm looking forward to seeing the photos Lawrence, the fishermen bringing in the catch at dawn sounds very interesting; mind you, so does the rest of it.

Hi there, I am new to photography and I would like to know where I can go on a course of some sort to learn more about the hobby.
