Sampled an S550UZ for a week or so shortly after reading your experiences, but simply couldn't make friends. However, that exposure prompted me to research several other digicams and I next tried a Canon S3. But aside from being much too complicated, it also began to literally come apart around the lens. Finally purchased a Fuji S6000fd and find the 28>300mm range ample, the operation more involved than my Olympus C740UZ (am also learning I hadn't fully discovered all that machine can do), but AM making progress up the asymptotic curve. And perhaps best of all, my net price after Fuji's $50 rebate will be $258...that's as in $$$, not in £££. In fact, the only minor negative, and it is minor, has to do with still needing more expensive and relatively hard-to-find xD memory cards. The editor of our local newspaper complimented me on the difference he noticed in my photos used with my weekly Kiwanis club column, so it's nice to hear that from objective experience.

Nevertheless, Lawrence, I'm still greatful for your initial SP-550UZ introduction that got me started down the slippery slope that has lead to a happy ending.

Thanks,

Thanks for the data! As both a brain injury researcher AND webmaster for our company's website (what a combination) ... one of my "tasks" - but thankfully "interest" too - is statistics, so I'm always interested in these kinds of numbers. :-) Very impressive figures!
