Back from Yellowstone

6 March 2010 One Comment

Got back from a 4 night trip to Yellowstone… was beautiful. My first time there and only my first (maybe second) trip purely dedicate to photography. Yellowstone was great… temperature ranged from 20f in the mornings to 45f by noon. Pretty cold but warmer than I expected and surprisingly, beautiful blue skies. Despite that, parts of the park were blanketed in several feet of snow. I shot film (all MF 6×7) exclusively. I’m neither a landscape nor a wildlife photographer, but enjoyed it immensely and tried to bring my own style to the scenes (while worrying most of the time if I was exposing correctly amidst the contrasty snow vs bison fur).

Developed the first roll of film tonight – and need to slowly work through the other 13 rolls over this next week. Will post best shots here.

haven’t had a chance to face the difficult situation of shooting subjects against bright white snowy background … must be tough…
