Pronghorn

One of my favourite pictures of the trip. This is a pronghorn antelope. You usually can’t within 50 yards of them but for some reason, this fella was fine with me being there… They’re the second fast land animals in the world (60mph), having evolved to outrun the now extinct N.American cheetah. They’re running prowess now vastly outstrips anything left on this continent. Anyway, wonderful animals and I felt lucky to see one up close like this.

Old Faithful

Made the obligatory journey over to Old Faithful – the most famous geyser in Yellowstone… It jettisoned about 10 minutes behind schedule, although I was amazed that any kind of predictability is possible with geothermal phenomenons… Here’s a couple of shots from the 1 – 2 min event.

First Light

Unforgettable sunrise at one of the higher parts of Yellowstone. During the winter, is only reachable by snow rigged vehicles (which we hired for a day with a guide).

Bison

Two shots… one a close up of a Bison, the other the trail left by a small herd. These trails, caused by the animals as they move through the snow, decorate the entire Yellowstone landscape.

Back from Yellowstone

Got back from a 4 night trip to Yellowstone… was beautiful. My first time there and only my first (maybe second) trip purely dedicate to photography. Yellowstone was great… temperature ranged from 20f in the mornings to 45f by noon. Pretty cold but warmer than I expected and surprisingly, beautiful blue skies. Despite that, parts of the park were blanketed in several feet of snow. I shot film (all MF 6×7) exclusively. I’m neither a landscape nor a wildlife photographer, but enjoyed it immensely and tried to bring my own …
