Just finished driving back tonight, a brutal 550 mile journey but a fun one.

Have started developing photos tonight, and will start posting next week – but in the meantime, here’s a shot from a couple of weeks ago – when a friend of a friend took us up at 4:30am before work on a Friday to do three loops of Mount Rainier at sunrise. Was a magical experience – I have 3 or 4 more from that trip, will post tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s my best of the series (and one of my favourite shots this year).

Last two shots of my little Palouse falls trip. Just a couple of snaps to show my medium format gear flexing its muscles.
BTW anyone use much of Ektachrome E100 VS? I’ve shot a few rolls of it now in 220 and really like it. Doesn’t pop quite like velvia but it’s a close second and 20 shots per roll is awesome sometimes.

Well, a 24 hour round trip from Seattle to Palouse Falls which is about 5 hours east of Seattle. We drove on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and after crossing the pass the weather instantly got better. I’m always surprised at how dramatically the climate and landscape change as soon as you cross the mountain pass in Washington. I have a few images from the short round trip. Here’s a few of the wide open terrain.

Well, a 24 hour round trip from Seattle to Palouse Falls which is about 5 hours east of Seattle. We drove on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and after crossing the pass the weather instantly got better. It’s a 5 hour drive from Seattle, and we got there a few hours before sunset. Grabbed a few shots of the falls (an 180 feet waterfall in what is otherwise the middle of the desert) before we ended up sleeping the night in the back of the car. Fortunately Akuri is a great sport and doesn’t mind me, her and the two dogs cramming into the back of my SUV. In the morning we got up early, hung out for a while and then just drove back. The trip wasn’t really a photography trip, so much as getting a taste of an upcoming trip we’ll make to Montana most probably.

OK, so that was last weekend. Yesterday ended up being even more fun with a friend inviting me to go up with with them in a private plan for a sunrise tour of Mt Rainier. We took off at 5am on Friday, just in time to see the sun climbing over the mountains. Truly spectacular. Am developing film for this now, as well as waiting for shots to come back from the lab so fingers crossed.

I’ll share pictures shortly. Here’s a quick image though that i found accidentally in my archives from earlier this year.
