Final Rainier Shot

Two last shots. Was a very productive hour in the air. I shot about 50 images though – which in medium format is a ridiculous number for such a large format (and expensive! – about $50 in film and developing fees). Still, was worth it :)

A shadow rises

Two images of the shadow cast by the mountain. First time I’ve seen something like this and gives you a pretty humbling sense of the scale.

Mount Rainier

Hi all – just got back from a week in Montana… We hired a lodge for a week and hung out, read books, hiked, took photos, and for the most part acted like it was a real holiday. Just finished driving back tonight, a brutal 550 mile journey but a fun one.
Have started developing photos tonight, and will start posting next week – but in the meantime, here’s a shot from a couple of weeks ago – when a friend of a friend took us up at 4:30am before …

My boys

Last two shots of my little Palouse falls trip. Just a couple of snaps to show my medium format gear flexing its muscles.
BTW anyone use much of Ektachrome E100 VS? I’ve shot a few rolls of it now in 220 and really like it. Doesn’t pop quite like velvia but it’s a close second and 20 shots per roll is awesome sometimes.

Palouse Day Trip

Well, a 24 hour round trip from Seattle to Palouse Falls which is about 5 hours east of Seattle. We drove on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and after crossing the pass the weather instantly got better. I’m always surprised at how dramatically the climate and landscape change as soon as you cross the mountain pass in Washington. I have a few images from the short round trip. Here’s a few of the wide open terrain.

Couples

Had a great past few days of photography. Last weekend we took a short overnight stay road trip out to Palouse Falls in Eastern Washington. It’s a 5 hour drive from Seattle, and we got there a few hours before sunset. Grabbed a few shots of the falls (an 180 feet waterfall in what is otherwise the middle of the desert) before we ended up sleeping the night in the back of the car. Fortunately Akuri is a great sport and doesn’t mind me, her and the two dogs cramming …
